PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday firmly rejected calls for his resignation, saying he remains committed to addressing the country’s challenges and has no reason to step down amid recent changes in his Cabinet.
“I will resign? Ba’t ko gagawin ’yun?” At wala sa ugali ko ang tinatakbuhan ang problema. What good will that do?” President Marcos said in response to a question raised on the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The President emphasized that his leadership is solution-oriented, underscoring his resolve to confront issues rather than evade them.
President Marcos ordered Cabinet members to file courtesy resignations last week as part of a broader government revamp. The President clarified that the move was not for show, but aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of his administration.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said that the President has accepted two Cabinet resignations and retained his economic team.
The President said that a “rigorous performance review” will be conducted, not only at the “Cabinet level, but even deeper.”
President Marcos is set to arrive in the Philippines early Wednesday morning following a two-day ASEAN Summit in Malaysia.
