A 25-YEAR-OLD police officer on Sunday was arrested for allegedly molesting his fellow police officer inside their barracks in Bgy. Salapungan, Candaba, Pampanga.
A report submitted to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr. by Pampanga police director Col. Eugene M. Marcelo identified the victim as alias “Ana,” 27, married, and assigned at the Candaba Police Station.
The cop-suspect, an alias “Drin,” 25, single, also a member of the PNP and assigned at the same station, was immediately arrested after the incident.
Prior to the alleged sexual assault, the victim and several of her colleagues were having drinks after their duty on the night of November 1. Around 10 p.m., the victim went to the women’s barracks to rest.
Between 12 midnight and 1 a.m., the victim felt nauseous and went to the bathroom to vomit when the suspect suddenly entered the room.
Surprised, the victim asked what the cop-suspect was doing there, and the suspect claimed he heard her vomiting. The victim then told him to leave, which he did after handing her a wash bag.
Moments later, while the victim was asleep, she was awakened by the suspect kissing her on the back. When she opened her eyes, she saw the suspect, who then allegedly molested her.
The victim immediately reported the incident to the duty officer of the day, resulting in the prompt arrest of her fellow officer.
The PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) and the Candaba police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
Appropriate charges are being readied for filing before the Pampanga Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the cop-suspect.
