OPERATIVES of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday seized some 75 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P510 million during a joint law enforcement operation at the Batangas Port in Batangas City.
PCG spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab said authorities intercepted and searched a white van, leading to the recovery of 75 foil packs containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
Arrested during the operation were two male and one female suspects, all residents of Bgy. Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.
The three are facing charges for violation of Section 5 Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrested individuals, along with the recovered evidence, were turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges.
PCG commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan lauded the operating team for the successful seizure which demonstrates the PCG’s commitment to combat illegal drug trade.
The operation supports President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr’s Bagong Pilipinas vision through the PCG’s Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) campaign and its Organized National Engagement (ONE) at Sea strategic concept by strengthening interagency cooperation against illegal drugs and other transnational crimes.
