SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – Joint operatives arrested a businessman for selling unauthorized and unregistered cooking oil products in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Mambangnan, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.
According to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group RFU 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod, members of the CIDG Nueva Ecija, in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration Regional Field Office 3 conducted the entrapment under OPLAN Megashopper drive.
Nabbed was alias Fer, 55, of Purok 1, Bgy. Mambangnan.
Gollod said operatives conducted the operation after receiving reports of the suspect’s alleged selling of unauthorized cooking oil products.
An undercover operative reportedly purchased one gallon containing 20 liters of cooking oil from the suspect and upon receipt of the marked money, the suspect was immediately arrested.
An FDA inspection team said the business was operating without the required documentation, including a License to Operate (LTO) and Certificate of Product Registration (CPR).
Authorities seized the 20-liter gallon of cooking oil used as the buy-bust item, the marked and boodle money, a sales invoice, 23 packs of Golden Cooking Oil, and 33 packs of 20-liter Golden Fiesta cooking oil.
The confiscated products were valued at approximately P70,000.
The FDA representatives reportedly verified the seized products on site and identified them as unauthorized and potentially harmful.
The arrested trader was brought to the CIDG Nueva Ecija PFU for temporary detention pending the filing of charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, and Republic Act No. 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Nueva Ecija.
