THE president of the Vice Mayor’s League of the Philippines – Batangas Chapter Mataas na Kahoy Vice Mayor Jay Manalo Ilagan has offered a reward for the arrest of the killer of a female resort owner in Bauan, Batangas.
A P500,000 bounty was offered by Ilagan to anyone who can pinpoint the whereabouts of alias “Lando,” the prime suspect in the killing of Carmen Maranan, the 73-year-old owner of Maranan Resort.
A photo of the alleged suspect was provided to mediamen by the victim’s family.
Maranan was found dead and bloodied on the floor by her daughter Jenny at her house located inside the compound of the resort at Sitio Gintuan in Bgy. Durungao, Bauan town around 7:30 a.m. on June 10.

The suspect, a former employee of the victim, was seen on CCTV footage leaving the crime scene.
The businesswoman’s son, Bgy. Durungao chairman Arnel Maranan, said found near her mother’s body was a broken flower vase, which they believed the suspect used in the killing.
The village chief said the house was in disarray and the income for the rental of the resort, a cellphone, and his mother’s bag were missing.
Initial investigation showed the suspect harbored an old grudge after he was fired by the victim from his job two months ago.
Meanwhile, the Batangas Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Provincial Field Unit headed by Lt. Col. Victor M. Sobrepeña is also conducting a parallel investigation to arrest the suspect.
