PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to strengthening the longstanding alliance between the Philippines and the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Tuesday morning, President Marcos extended his congratulations to US President-elect Donald Trump during a \u201cproductive congratulatory call.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Speaking on the sidelines of the aid distribution event in Catanduanes, President Marcos reflected on his conversation with Trump, which touched on fond memories of his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cNaalala naman niya ang Pilipinas. Ang kaibigan niya talaga mother ko. Kilalang-kilala niya \u2018yung mother ko. Kinukumusta niya \u2014 \u2018How is Imelda?\u2019 Sabi ko, binabati ka nga,\u201d President Marcos told reporters.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cPatuloy naming pinag-usapan ang samahan \u2014 the alliance between the United States and the Philippines. And I expressed to him our continuing desire to strengthen that relationship between our two countries, which is a relationship that is as deep as can possibly be because it has been for a very long time,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the call, the two leaders discussed the deep-rooted alliance between the US and the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President also highlighted their discussion about Filipino voters in the US who supported Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cIt was a very friendly call, very productive.
