{"id":10219,"date":"2024-11-24T23:32:47","date_gmt":"2024-11-24T15:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=10219"},"modified":"2024-11-24T23:32:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-24T15:32:48","slug":"state-of-calamity-declared-in-dasmarinas-city-due-to-dengue-outbreak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2024\/11\/24\/state-of-calamity-declared-in-dasmarinas-city-due-to-dengue-outbreak\/","title":{"rendered":"STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARED IN DASMARI\u00d1AS CITY DUE TO DENGUE OUTBREAK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>DASMARINAS City in the province of Cavite&nbsp; has been placed under a state of calamity due to&nbsp; dengue outbreak.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>In a social media post on Friday, Mayor Jenny Barzaga said the city recorded 928 infections as of November 6, this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Barzaga said the number is nearly four times higher or 397 percent up than the 233 cases reported during the same period last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The declaration of a state of calamity based on Resolution 435-S-2024 enables the local government unit to mobilize resources and implement strategies to address the outbreak effectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The <\/strong><em><strong>Dasmari\u00f1as<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong><\/em><strong>City mayor emphasized the urgent need for action to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;It is of dire importance that necessary measures be taken to prevent further spread of the virus,&#8221; she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;All are advised to spread awareness and be informed about what dengue is and what we can do to avoid it,&#8221; she added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The 75 barangays in the city are now working in full swing to curb the worsening dengue cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The City Health Office advised that every barangay work together to contain the&nbsp;&nbsp;dengue outbreak.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dengue is a viral infection caused by mosquito bites, primarily from the Aedes aegypti mosquito.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptoms include high fever, headache, body ache, nausea, and rash. Most recover within 1-2 weeks, but severe cases can be fatal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Health personnel continue conducting misting and fogging to prevent dengue and lessen the case of dengue outbreak.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The CHO also reminded everyone to throw away things were mosquitoes thrive and always keep the surroundings clean.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cavite provincial health officer Dr. Nelson Soriano said besides the City of <\/strong><em><strong>Dasmari\u00f1as<\/strong><\/em><strong>, the increase in dengue cases in the neighboring city of Imus is also being monitored.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Cavite Provincial Health Office on Saturday said Cavite province has recorded 10,119 dengue cases within 47 weeks of the year 2024, starting from the month of January.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Imus City had the highest cases with 1,532 followed by Bacoor with 1,500; General Trias with 1,183; Dasmarinas City with 1,101 cases; Trece Martires City with 904 cases; and Tanza with 847 cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Soriano said 43 fatality cases (.42%) were recorded this year compared to five deaths last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Most of those affected were males at 5,345 or 53 percent.&nbsp;&nbsp;Some 6,970 or 69 percent of individuals affected by dengue were admitted to different hospitals.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>General Trias City health officer Dr. Jonathan Luseco said in the city, they are conducting non-stop fogging and misting operations, open communication with barangay officials and coordination in the high burden barangays.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cMayor Jon Jon Ferrer procured chemicals to be used in fogging operations.
