A MINOR steam-driven eruption on Tuesday morning was observed at Taal Volcano in Batangas province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismolohy (Phivolcs)<\/strong> said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Phivolcs said the steam-driven or phreatic eruption occurred at Taal Volcano at 5:58 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n A phreatomagmatic eruption occurs when magma interacts with water and produces plumes of steam, ash and other volcanic materials.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to Phivolcs, Taal Volcano spewed 2.8-kilometer-tall grayish plume into the sky.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Two volcanic tremors that lasted four minutes long were also recorded at the volcano.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n It also emitted a moderate 600-meter tall plume, which drifted southwest.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Phivolcs classified the volcano\u2019s latest spewing activity as \u201cmoderate emission.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n On November 30, Taal Volcano released 7,216 tons of sulfur dioxide flux.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Entry into Taal Volcano Island, which is considered a permanent danger zone, as well as flying any aircraft close to the volcano, are prohibited.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Phivolcs said more steam-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, and minor ashfall are also possible. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Taal Volcano remains under alert level 1 or low level unrest.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A MINOR steam-driven eruption on Tuesday morning was observed at Taal Volcano in Batangas province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismolohy (Phivolcs) said.
