VICE President Sara Duterte on Tuesday bared her plan to run in the 2028 presidential elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The vice president made the disclosure that she is now \u201cseriously considering\u201d running during her <\/strong>\u201cprivate trip\u201d to Japan over the weekend, where she also visited groups of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe are seriously considering,\u201d Duterte told OFWs in Tokyo during a meet-and-greet event as part of her \u201cprivate\u201d trip to Japan.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s happening to the country now can no longer continue. We see the country continuously backsliding. I really believe our country can be great,\u201d she said when asked about her plans for 2028.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Vice President\u2019s statement was a change of tune from her previous remarks when asked about her political plans.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During her last public engagement last year, she reiterated that she would decide in 2026 whether she would run for the presidency in 2028.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Based on surveys, Duterte remains on top of the list of preferred presidential candidates in the 2028 elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" VICE President Sara Duterte on Tuesday bared her plan to run in the 2028 presidential elections.
