Senate President Francis \u201cChiz\u201d Escudero, who served as the guest of honor in the event, officiated the oathtaking of Mayor Alonte and Vice Mayor Jonalina \u201cDada\u201d Reyes.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The 12 city councilors took their oath of office before their respective barangay chairpersons.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In his message, Alonte vowed to continue the culture of excellence in Bi\u00f1an started by his father, former Bi\u00f1an Mayor Bayani Arthur \u201cArt\u201d Alonte, his sister Congresswoman Len Alonte, and his predecessor, outgoing Mayor Arman Dimaguila.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cIpagpapatuloy ko po ang pangarap ng lahat na mas maunlad, mas makatao at mas makabagong lungsod ng <\/strong>Bi\u00f1an<\/strong> ,\u201d Mayor Alonte said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He said in his first 100 days as local chief executive, he will focus on health services for a healthy <\/strong>Bi\u00f1an<\/strong> City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cPalalakasin po natin ang Ospital ng <\/strong>Bi\u00f1an<\/strong> at ang primary health services,\u201d Alonte said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He also mentioned two projects he will pursue under his term\u2014the construction of the <\/strong>Bi\u00f1an Cancer Institute, and the Bi\u00f1an City College.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cMahalaga pong makapagpatayo tayo ng <\/strong>Bi\u00f1an Cancer Institute para sa mas maagang pagsusuri at pagsuporta sa mga lumalaban sa cancer. Ang kalusugan ay karapatan at hindi prebilehiyo. Pangalawa ang Bi\u00f1an City College dahil ang edukasyon ay tulay sa kinabukasan. Hindi dapat ipinagkakait ang edukasyon,\u201d said Alonte.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Aside from health and education sectors, the newly-elected Bi\u00f1an mayor also promised to expand the city\u2019s sports programs in the barangays and to improve its social services to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He also <\/strong>vowed to promote a safe community for all, including the LGBTQ+ community.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In his first press conference also on Friday, Alonte announced that over 10,000 senior citizens of the city are set to receive their pensions come December.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, Vice Mayor-elect Reyes has expressed her full support to Mayor Alonte as she called on all newly-elected councilors to work together for the common good.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cBababa kami ng Sanggunian sa bawat barangay for people empowerment.
