THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received unmodified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) for three consecutive years starting in 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n For fiscal year 2024 the BFP <\/strong>maintained its stellar record with a score of 90, reaffirming its commitment to sound fiscal management and public trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n An unmodified opinion, also known as a clean or unqualified opinion, is the most positive type of audit opinion. It is <\/strong>the highest mark of financial transparency and accountability.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to COA, the basis of the report was the financial audit conducted in the period of 2024 as reported by Miriam M. Villanueva Director lV, Cluster 4 National Government Audit Sector.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Based on the COA report, the BFP received a 90 percent or an excellent score from the first Financial Performance Rating report.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Earlier, the COA approved the actions taken by the BFP in relation to the modernization program of the Bureau to keep up with the modern era.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The COA report stated that there are no irregularities in the actions taken by the BFP in setting the technical requirements needed by the Bureau to keep pace with its modernization program.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, the COA’s Financial Management Performance Rating report said that the BFP received an excellent rating in the past period of 2024.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to a COA report in 2010, the BFP launched its Modernization Program in accordance with the government’s Comprehensive Fire Code of 2008, allowing the Bureau to adapt to modern times in the event of a fire.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The report further stated that the main objective is to upgrade the government’s firefighting capabilities with sufficient personnel and firefighting equipment to protect people from dangerous fires.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The COA report further stated that the total funding for the Modernization Program from 2011 to 2017 reached P13.17 billion.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Last year, Senator Bong Go filed a bill in the Senate requiring the BFP to implement its modernization program.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to the COA report, there is nothing wrong with the technical requirements for the modernization program because it is in line with its performance audit standards.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Commission also believes that the government should strengthen its fire suppression campaign in conjunction with its ongoing modernization efforts.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received unmodified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) for three consecutive years starting in 2022.
