SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Monday vowed that the House of Representatives is all-in on President Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d R. Marcos Jr.\u2019s drive for accountability, stressing that the Chamber is hiding nothing and protecting no one as Congress confronts allegations of irregularities in infrastructure projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWalang itinatago, walang poprotektahan, at higit sa lahat\u2014 hindi lilihis sa interes ng taumbayan,\u201d Speaker Romualdez said welcoming the President\u2019s latest remarks that no one is exempt from accountability in connection with the flood control anomalies.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The House leader said the President\u2019s reminder must serve as a guiding principle not only for the House, but for all branches of government committed to restoring public trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI fully support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.\u2019s statement that no one is exempt from accountability. The House of Representatives has already embraced this principle in our work to uphold transparency and restore public trust,\u201d Speaker Romualdez said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Speaker underscored that investigations should be anchored on evidence, not speculation or hearsay.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe President has also reminded us against name-dropping and reckless accusations. I share this view. Investigations must be anchored on facts and evidence, not on rumor, innuendo, or hearsay. Only by focusing on the truth can we ensure both accountability and fairness,\u201d he pointed out.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Speaker Romualdez reiterated that the House will never serve as a refuge for wrongdoing, even if lawmakers are involved.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cFrom the very start, I have made it clear: the House will not be a refuge for wrongdoing. Not even its own Members will be shielded if wrongdoing is proven. We will ensure that the process is fair, fact-based, and guided by the rule of law,\u201d he stressed.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He said the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure is an opportunity to cleanse the system, and pledged House\u2019s full cooperation. At the same time, Speaker Romualdez noted that House committees have begun reviewing procurement safeguards and monitoring project implementation to plug loopholes and strengthen oversight.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis issue is bigger than personalities.
