ACTRESS Gretchen Barretto on Thursday submitted her counter-affidavit in the case of the missing cockfight afficionados.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Barretto attended the preliminary investigation into the case of the missing “sabungeros” held at the Department of Justice (DOJ).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The actress is among the respondents in the multiple murder and serious illegal detention complaints filed by the families of the victims before the DOJ in August, along with businessman Charlie \u201cAtong\u201d Ang, <\/strong>retired police Lt. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, <\/strong>and more than 50 others.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Barretto and Estomo were both present in the DOJ hearing. She was the only respondent who submitted a counter affidavit.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ang was a no show in the proceedings , He was representedby his counsel Gabriel VIllareal, who said they were not able to file a counter affidavit, having received the subpoena only a few days ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Barretto\u2019s lawyer, Alma Mallonga, during the hearing insisted that the complaints against her client must be dismissed \u201cforthwith,\u201d arguing the accusations were \u201cunsubstantiated, unproven\u2026 incredible, and made by a witness who himself lacks credibility.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The actress told reporters that she \u201ctrusts\u201d the process will clear her of any wrongdoing.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, one of the accused in the case of the missing \u201csabungeros,\u201d linked Barretto to the disappearances.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Patidongan has identified businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang as the mastermind behind the abductions.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Patidongan also said the missing cockfight watchers have all been killed and their bodies were dumped into the Taal Lake.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, the<\/strong> next hearing is set on Sept. 29.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ACTRESS Gretchen Barretto on Thursday submitted her counter-affidavit in the case of the missing cockfight afficionados.
