MASANTOL, Pampanga \u2014 A barangay captain on Tuesday \u00a0was killed while another was injured in an ambush in this town.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio <\/strong>Pe\u00f1ones\u00a0<\/strong> Jr. identified the fatality as Jinky Quiambao, 43, the incumbent barangay captain of Balibago, Masantol.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The wounded was Enrique A. Yamat, 54, the village chief of Nigui, Masantol.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Initial probe showed Quiambao and Yamat had just finished a transaction at the municipal hall in Bgy. San Nicolas and were on their way home when the attack occurred.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Witnesses said the victims were stepping out of their vehicle in Bgy. Alauli when two unidentified armed men emerged and opened fire at them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Quiambao sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the <\/strong>\u00a0Domingo B. Flores District Hospital<\/strong> but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yamat was also brought to the same hospital and was later transferred to Jos\u00e9 B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital (JBL) in the City of San Fernando for further medical treatment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The assassins fled on a motorcycle toward the dike area of Bgy. Batasan in Macabebe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A follow-up investigation is underway to determine the identities of the suspects and the possible motives for the attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Authorities appealed to the public for any information that may aid in the swift identification and arrest of the gunmen.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
