Gen. Jess Mendez on Monday personally conducted an inspection of selected schools across Central Luzon to ensure the safety and security of learners and teachers as classes officially opened for School Year 2026\u20132027.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: revert-layer; font-weight: revert-layer;\">Mendez said the inspection formed part of the Philippine National Police&#8217;s (PNP\u2019s) efforts to support the Department of Education (DepEd) in maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment for millions of students returning to classrooms after the school break.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: revert-layer; font-weight: revert-layer;\">The Central Luzon top cop met with school administrators and education officials to assess security preparations, discuss traffic management concerns, and review measures aimed at ensuring the smooth reopening of schools.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: revert-layer; font-weight: revert-layer;\">He also checked the deployment of police personnel assigned to school safety operations and inspected Police Assistance Desks (PADs) established in strategic locations near school premises.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mendez reminded officers to remain visible, approachable, and responsive to the needs of students, parents, and teachers throughout the opening of classes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSeeing our personnel on the ground and speaking directly with school officials allowed us to verify that our security preparations are in place,\u201d he \u00a0said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe want every learner to feel safe as they return to school, every parent to have peace of mind, and every teacher to focus on providing quality education,\u201d the official added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He emphasized that the PNP remains committed to working closely with communities and educational institutions to ensure a safe, orderly, and successful school year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: revert-layer; font-weight: revert-layer;\">The police regional director underscored the importance of maintaining a strong police presence around schools, noting that visible and responsive policing helps reassure students, teachers, and parents while contributing to a peaceful learning atmosphere.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-style: revert-layer; font-weight: revert-layer;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; BY KEVIN GALANG &nbsp; POLICE&nbsp; Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig.
