MORE than P3 million worth of counterfeit seasoning was confiscated by the authorities on June 5 and 10, 2026 in separate operations in Zamboanga del Sur and Pampanga.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two female suspects were arrested while 815 boxes of alleged counterfeit food seasoning, with a total estimated market value of P3,832,100 were seized.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), together with representatives from Nestl\u00e9 Philippines Inc., and territorial police units, conducted separate law enforcement operations against violation of Republic Act No. 8293, (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines) particularly the manufacture, distribution, and sale of alleged fake food seasoning products.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A report to CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert AA Morico II showed that on June 5, 2026, the CIDG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Unit and representatives of Nestl\u00e9 Philippines Inc. conducted a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Bulatok, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arrested was alias \u201cLin,\u201d a Chinese national and a resident of Bgy. Tiguma, Pagadian City.<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLin\u201d was caught while selling alleged counterfeit “Maggi Magic Sarap” seasoning, a violation of Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Seized were 728 boxes of the consumer products valued at P3,458,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 10, 2026, the CIDG Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU), together with representatives from Nestl\u00e9 Philippines Inc., conducted a law enforcement operation in Bgy. Siran, Guagua, Pampanga that resulted in the apprehension of alias “Lyn,\u201d a businesswoman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She was also caught while distributing and trading alleged trademark-infringing and counterfeit “Maggi Magic Sarap.” <\/strong><\/p>\n

Confiscated during the operation were 87 boxes of seasoning products worth 374,100.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The CIDG Director emphasized that the primary purpose of Republic Act No. 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, is to protect and secure the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors, artists, and other gifted citizens to their intellectual property and creations, particularly when it is beneficial to the people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He further stressed that it is the policy of the State to strengthen the enforcement of intellectual property laws and related regulations throughout the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Morico said that counterfeit consumer products pose severe and immediate health risks to the buying public because it entirely bypasses the strict quality control, safety inspections, and government regulations established by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The CIDG leadership lauded Col. Rosell DM Encarnacion, the Regional Chief of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 9, Lt. Col. Angelo B Nicolas, the Officer-In-Charge of CIDG Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU), and the CIDG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Unit led by Lt. Col. Allen M Alcido for the successful crackdown on alleged counterfeit consumer products.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Morico said it underscores the unyielding stance of the CIDG against all forms of illegal activities and violation of laws across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The CIDG assures the public that it is resolute in enforcing all the laws to protect their safety and health, and to safeguard all trademark owners from the intellectual property law violation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The CIDG calls on the public to exercise extreme caution and vigilance when purchasing food seasonings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It said that counterfeit products look nearly identical to genuine brands on the outside but contain hazardous, unverified ingredients on the inside. <\/strong><\/p>\n
