THOUSANDS of Filipinos <\/strong>led by faith-based groups and civil society organizations on Sunday, June 28, 2026, joined the White Ribbon March calling for accountability and an end to corruption.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The call came amid the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte and the investigation into flood control corruption.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Around <\/strong>3,600 joined the event, according to an estimate by the Quezon City Police District.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Church leaders, advocates and supporters held a Holy Mass at the EDSA Shrine officiated by<\/strong> Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his homily, Bishop Bagaforo called on government officials to stop being self-centered and embody the selflessness of Jesus Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Ang sentro ng buhay natin ay hindi dapat ‘ako.’ Ang sentro ay walang iba kundi si Kristo,” he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the Holy Mass, from the EDSA Shrine,\u00a0 participants marched \u00a0to the People Power Monument in Quezon City where a program was held.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the White Ribbon rally ended peacefully.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the police personnel deployed on the ground for carrying out their duties with discipline and restraint.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Maraming salamat sa ating mga kapulisan na naging mahinahon at propesyonal sa pagganap ng kanilang tungkulin. Naging maayos ang kabuuang sitwasyon at walang naging aberya. Ang kaligtasan ng lahat ang lagi nating inuuna, at iyan ang serbisyong nais nating maramdaman ng bawat Pilipino,” Nartatez said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also reminded the public that the PNP remains committed to protecting constitutional rights while preserving peace and order.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Patuloy nating igagalang ang karapatan ng bawat Pilipino na ipahayag ang kanilang saloobin sa mapayapang paraan. Kasabay nito, sisiguraduhin din natin na ang batas ay pantay na ipinatutupad at ang kapayapaan ay napapanatili para sa kapakinabangan ng lahat,” he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PNP said nearly 10,000 police personnel were deployed for the event, with concerned units placed under full alert from 5 p.m. on June 27 until 12:01 a.m. on June 29.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, police said the <\/strong>White Ribbon Movement rallies held in other parts of the National Capital Region on the same day also ended without any untoward event.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among them an activity in the Eastern Police District with around 1,000 participants, one in the Southern Police District with about 50 participants, and three in the Quezon City Police District with an estimated 3,830 participants.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PNP maintained police presence in the affected areas to ensure public safety, manage traffic, and facilitate the peaceful exercise of the participants’ right to assemble while minimizing disruption to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The security measures were carried out in line with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes rights-based policing, public safety, and orderly law enforcement consistent with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to uphold peace, public order, and the rule of law.<\/strong><\/p>\n
