Marcos Jr. on Wednesday directed different government agencies to intensify preparations, especially after Typhoon Inday entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Wednesday morning, and called on the public to remain alert.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its weather update, said the weather system was located east of Northern Luzon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In response to the President\u2019s directive, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) led by Chairman Don Artes conducted clean-up operations of drainage systems and waterways particularly in areas clogged with garbage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The agency\u2019s 73 pumping stations are also on standby in case of a heavy downpour due to intensified habagat caused by Typhoon Inday entering the PAR.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) also carried out various preparatory measures, especially in Cagayan Valley, said Castro, adding the agency already prepositioned equipment such as trucks, backhoes, chainsaws, and other materials in case of disaster.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAng DSWD, sa pangunguna ni Secretary Rex Gatchalian, ay nakahanda na rin bago pa man pumasok ang bagyo. Sa datos ng ahensiya, mayroong mahigit 4.7 million food packs ang naka-preposition na sa buong bansa,\u201d Castro said of the DSWD response.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSa Cagayan Valley pa lamang, mayroon nang 217,000 na mga family food packs na nakahanda sa warehouses ng DSWD kung saan 23,000 sa mga ito ay nasa Batanes Island,\u201d she added.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Department of Health (DOH) regional offices were also put on alert as part of the preparatory measures for Typhoon Inday, while the Health Emergency Management Bureau issued a weather alert to centers for health development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cNagdeklara na rin ang ahensiya ng Code (White) para alerto ang mga unit habang nakahanda na rin ang DOH Health Emergency Response Team sa buong bansa at ang pag-deploy ng Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance (PEMAT) kung kakailanganin,\u201d Castro said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition, according to Castro, the DOH also readied a contingency plan to ensure the continuity of health services to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Palace official also said that based on DOH data, there is a total of P36.6 million worth of medicines, hygiene kits, and cleaning equipment already prepositioned in various locations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cMaliban sa mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan, si Pangulong Marcos Jr. mismo ay nakatutok din sa lagay ng panahon at sa magiging development nito sa susunod na mga araw.
