CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga \u2013 Joint operatives early Thursday morning seized an estimated P22 million worth of illegally traded petroleum products and arrested eight individuals during an anti-smuggling operation in Bgy. San Benito, Dinalupihan, Bataan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez showed that the operation was conducted by joint elements of the Regional Special Operations Group of the Regional Intelligence Division 3 (RSOG-RID3), the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group Task Force Anti-Smuggling, CIDG Bataan Provincial Field Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Bataan Police Provincial Office, 1st Bataan Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Dinalupihan Municipal Police Station.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Initially arrested were two suspects who were found selling petroleum products without the required license from the Department of Energy (DOE).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A follow-up inspection at the site resulted in the arrest of six more individuals after authorities discovered fuel tanker trucks and unauthorized storage containers allegedly being used to unload and divert petroleum products intended for delivery to another consignee and destination.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Confiscated during the operation were more than 104,000 liters of petroleum products, including over 68,000 liters of diesel, 20,000 liters of unleaded gasoline, 7,600 liters of premium gasoline, and 8,800 liters of ethanol.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also seized were four fuel tanker trucks, an electric pump, and several delivery documents believed to be connected to the alleged illegal trading operation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

According to investigators, the petroleum products were allegedly diverted from the intended recipients, an act that violates Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as amended by Presidential Decree No. 1865, which prohibits the unauthorized sale, distribution, and diversion of petroleum products.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mendez lauded the operating units for the successful operation, saying it demonstrates the PNP’s continuing campaign against economic sabotage and illicit trade.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

“This successful operation reflects PRO3’s unwavering commitment to combating illicit trade activities that undermine legitimate businesses and deprive the government of much-needed revenues. In line with the PNP Focused Agenda of our\u00a0 PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., we will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations and strengthen inter-agency collaboration to protect the economy and ensure that violators are held accountable,” Mendez said.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Charges for violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as amended are being readied for filing in court against the arrested suspects.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged illegal petroleum trading operation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mendez said the operation forms part of PRO3’s intensified intelligence-driven campaign against smuggling and other forms of economic sabotage aimed at protecting legitimate businesses, safeguarding government revenues, and maintaining peace and order in Central Luzon.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
