PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared August 29, 2026 a special non-working day in the Fourth Legislative District of Cavite to enable registered voters to participate in the special election to fill a vacant seat in the House of Representatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under\u00a0<\/strong>Proclamation No. 1369<\/a><\/strong>, the special non-working day covers the Fourth Legislative District of Cavite, comprising the City of Dasmari\u00f1as, where the special election will be held following the expulsion of the district\u2019s incumbent representative.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The proclamation cited Republic Act No. 6645, as amended by Republic Act No. 7166, which requires the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to call and conduct a special election when a permanent vacancy occurs in the House of Representatives at least one year before the expiration of the term.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The election must be held not earlier than 60 days nor later than 90 days from the occurrence of the vacancy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The proclamation noted that the vacancy resulted from the expulsion of the incumbent member representing the Fourth Legislative District of Cavite.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It further stated that the special election for the district, comprising the City of Dasmari\u00f1as, is scheduled on August 29, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To ensure that voters can fully exercise their right to suffrage, the President declared August 29, which falls on a Saturday, a special non-working day in the affected district.<\/strong><\/p>\n
