MALACA\u00d1ANG<\/strong> has ordered government agencies to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements in 15 provinces in Northern and Central Luzon on September 1 (Tuesday) due to expected heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under\u00a0<\/strong>Memorandum Circular No. 133<\/a><\/strong>, government offices in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga and Bataan are directed to adopt alternative work arrangements.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The directive was issued upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in anticipation of heavy rainfall that could cause urban flooding and traffic disruptions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Agencies providing basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services are required to continue operations and provide necessary services.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contract of Service and Job Order workers placed under alternative work arrangements will continue to receive their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to existing rules and regulations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The memorandum also allows schools in the affected areas to implement alternative learning modes and other learning continuity measures at all levels in public and private schools, unless otherwise directed by their respective local chief executives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Local chief executives may also order localized cancellation or suspension of classes and government work in other areas, pursuant to relevant laws, rules, and regulations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the private sector, the decision to suspend work or adopt alternative work arrangements remains at the discretion of management.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto signed MC 133 by the authority of the President. <\/strong><\/p>\n
