A STRONGER and more prosperous Philippines cannot be built by its leaders alone but by every Filipino willing to act with compassion, conviction, and love of country.<\/p>\n

This was the message of Speaker Faustino \u201cBojie\u201d G. Dy III on National Heroes Day as he urged Filipinos to honor the nation\u2019s heroes by doing their part, however small, to build the country they fought for.<\/p>\n

\u201cDahil ang isang mas maunlad at matatag na Pilipinas ay hindi lamang itinatayo ng mga lider. Itinatayo ito ng bawat Pilipinong may malasakit at paninindigan,\u201d Speaker Dy said in a video message posted in the social media platforms of the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n

He urged Filipinos to honor the country\u2019s heroes not only by remembering their sacrifices, but by helping strengthen the nation they fought for.<\/p>\n

\u201cNgayong National Heroes Day, alalahanin natin ang mga bayani ng ating nakaraan at higit sa lahat mahalin natin ang ating bayan at kapwa upang lalo pang pagtibayin ang Pilipinas na kanilang ipinaglaban,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dy said National Heroes Day should serve as both a remembrance of the past and a reminder of the responsibility of the present generation.<\/p>\n

\u201cAng National Heroes Day ay hindi lamang araw ng paggunita. Ito ay araw ng pagpapaalala kung sino tayo bilang mga Pilipino,\u201d Dy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAng ating mga bayani ay nag-iwan sa atin ng isang mahalagang pamana: ang paniniwalang may mga bagay na higit na mahalaga kaysa sa sarili\u2014ang bayan, ang kapwa, at ang kinabukasan ng susunod na henerasyon.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Speaker said that responsibility now rests with today\u2019s generation of Filipinos.<\/p>\n

\u201cNgayon, tayo naman ang may pananagutan na ipagpatuloy ang pamana na iyon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Amid rapid changes in society and around the world, Dy said Filipinos should hold fast to enduring Filipino values that have long defined the nation and its heroes.<\/p>\n

\u201cSa isang panahon na mabilis magbago ang mundo, kailangan nating bumalik sa mga pagpapahalagang hindi dapat magbago: katapatan sa salita at gawa, paggalang sa kapwa, malasakit sa nangangailangan, tapang na panindigan ang tama, at pagmamahal sa bayan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIto ang tunay na mukha ng kabayanihan sa ating panahon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaker Dy emphasized that heroism is not reserved for famous figures or extraordinary acts, but can be practiced by every Filipino through everyday acts of goodness and service.<\/p>\n

\u201cHindi kailangang maging tanyag upang maging bayani. Hindi kailangang gumawa ng pambihira upang makapaglingkod,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKailangan lamang nating piliing maging mabuting Pilipino\u2014araw-araw, sa bawat pagkakataon,\u201d the leader of the House added.<\/strong><\/p>\n
