Marcos Jr. on Monday vowed to further improve the benefits, career opportunities, and working conditions of Filipino teachers as the administration continues reforms aimed at supporting educators and improving the quality of education.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking during the 2026 National Teachers\u2019 Day celebration, \u201cTeacher, Ikaw Naman,\u201d at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, President Marcos said education remains a priority of the administration, with the sector receiving its biggest budget in the country\u2019s history this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAt hindi tayo titigil doon. Patuloy nating hahanapan ng paraan kung paano pa mapabubuti ang suporta, benepisyo, at mga oportunidad para sa ating mga guro,\u201d the President said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As part of efforts to provide teachers with greater opportunities for professional advancement, President Marcos reported that 82,105 teachers and school heads had been promoted under the Expanded Career Progression System as of September.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The figure includes some 4,125 newly promoted teachers and education personnel in Region II who took their oaths of office last Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAnd because supporting our teachers means investing in their growth, we have expanded opportunities for career advancement,\u201d President Marcos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The administration has also strengthened the non-teaching workforce and streamlined paperwork to reduce administrative responsibilities that take teachers away from classroom instruction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Classroom observations were reduced from four per school year to one during School Year 2025\u20132026 and will be limited to two in succeeding school years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The President said the administration is also improving benefits and incentives for educators, including teaching and medical allowances and other forms of assistance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cKabilang dito ang World Teachers\u2019 Day Incentive Benefit na matatanggap ninyo sa tuwing ika-lima ng Oktubre,\u201d President Marcos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The government is likewise processing the Performance-Based Bonus for 2024, with the President directing concerned agencies to ensure an orderly and faster process.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Marcos said the administration will continue protecting the rights and welfare of teachers while creating opportunities for their continuing professional development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Chief Executive said investments in teachers form an important part of the government\u2019s broader effort to improve the quality of Philippine education.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPatuloy rin natin gagampanan ang tungkuling pangalagaan ang mga karapatan, kapakanan, at patuloy na pag-unlad ng ating mga guro,\u201d the President said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Marcos assured educators that government initiatives to ease their workload, improve their benefits and provide greater opportunities for career advancement will continue as the administration strengthens the education sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thousands of educators gathered for the annual event many of whom came all the way from their respective regions and provinces.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The President also acknowledged the dedication required of teachers, recalling the discipline of his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and his grandmother, Do\u00f1a Josefa Edralin, in teaching inside and outside school.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Marcos likewise cited the experience of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos as a law professor, saying he had personally witnessed her dedication to the teaching profession.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The President said the administration will continue protecting teachers\u2019 welfare while investing in their professional growth in recognition of their important role in educating and preparing the next generation of Filipinos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The occasion was also attended by national and local government officials, including by DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo J.
