AGENTS of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the Ninoy Aquino Terminal 1 has intercepted a Japanese national attempting to leave the country using a counterfeit Special Resident Retiree\u2019s Visa (SRRV).<\/p>\n

The Japanese, identified as Yoshiaki Nakamura, 64, was about to board a Philippine Airlines flight to Osaka last November 19 when stopped by BI operatives.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco disclosed that the primary inspector initially referred Nakamura for secondary inspection for holding a visa that appeared counterfeit.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
After validation from the agency\u2019s Forensic Documents Laboratory, it was revealed that the SRRV visa affixed on his passport was counterfeit.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Tansingco warned all foreign nationals of the gravity of possessing counterfeit documents.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch actions violate Philippine immigration laws and warrant serious consequences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“We remain committed to safeguarding the integrity of our immigration system, and will take decisive action against those attempting to deceive or defraud it” he added.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The arrested alien will be detained in the BI\u2019s Warden Facility pending deportation procedures.<\/p>\n
