BY KEVIN GALANG<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo is planning to establish a “humane” city jail with a livelihood space for the city’s detainees.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The mayor revealed his plan in a recent courtesy visit by newly-appointed Angeles District Jail Warden Supt. Manolet L. Datan.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “The city only has a custodial facility at the moment. As the city continues to grow in its progress and population, there is a need to have its own city jail that may be remote but accessible to visitors, and most importantly, has space for livelihood programs,” said Mayor Garbo. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Garbo said the proposed city jail aims to provide a more suitable environment for the rehabilitation of inmates, underscoring the administration’s commitment to progressive criminal justice reforms.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Datan expressed his gratitude for Mayor Garbo’s ongoing support to the district jail.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “The Mabalacat City under the leadership of Mayor Garbo has provided service vehicles to our district jail, and we thank him for his consistent generosity,” said the Angeles City jail warden.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Datan reported that currently, 360 inmates –300 males and 60 females — from Mabalacat City are being housed at the district jail.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The proposed city jail, with a livelihood space, aims to be a transformative facility that will not only address the space requirements but also foster a rehabilitative atmosphere, where inmates can learn new skills, engage in meaningful work, and prepare for their eventual reintegration into society.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Garbo’s initiative reflects a compassionate approach to corrections, prioritizing humane conditions and the prospect of a second chance for inmates. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The project is a testament to the
