BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. has ordered the suspension of 26 officials and employees of the agency.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Lumagui said the 26 are facing charges for grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, gross neglect of duty, violation of reasonable office rules and regulations, violation of the Anti-Red Tape Act of 1997 and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to Lumagui, his mission is to have an agency filled with professionals who have integrity.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe suspension of 26 BIR officials shows our commitment to the Filipino people. You deserve only the best in public service,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe BIR will continue to create a culture of professionalism and integrity under my watch,\u201d the BIR commissioner added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The BIR filed charges with preventive suspension orders against 21 employees.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Of the total number of charges, 18 were implemented and three were due for implementation.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n BIR has also penalized five employees, bringing the total suspended employees to 26.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. has ordered the suspension of 26 officials and employees of the agency.
