DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos on Saturday led the thousands of volunteers in a clean-up drive in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The clean-up initiative in Bgy. Sama-Marquez, Binakayan was dubbed \u201cKalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Director Ariel Iglesia, CESO III, DILG IV-A, and local officials of Kawit headed by Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo, volunteers, and other stakeholders joined the Secretary in cleaning the esteros.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Abalos urged every member of the community to be a partner of the government in cleaning the environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He also encouraged the local government units to invest in programs, projects, and activities related to solid waste management and other ecological tactics.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Under the KALINISAN program, the DILG will implement the Barangay at Kalinisan Day (BARKADA).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In partnership with the private sector, youth volunteers in every barangay every week will join hands in cleaning their respective houses and promote \u201csegregation-at-source policies.\u201d <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Sa pag-ikot po namin dito sa Bgy.
