HUNDREDS of Catholic faithful on Sunday flocked to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church in General Trias City, Cavite<\/strong> to join the \u201cSalubong\u201d\u00a0\u00a0or the celebration of the resurrection of Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cSalubong\u201d is a Filipino tradition that dramatizes the reunion of Jesus and his grieving mother, Mary.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n St. Francis of Assisi parish priest Rev. Fr. Oliver Genuino led the Easter Sunday Mass that marks the end of the Holy Week for the Christian church.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During Easter Sunday\u2019 celebration, local parishioners and devotees lifted the statues of the resurrected Christ and the mourning Mary and passed them in two different ways of processions. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The men, in a happy celebration of the procession, were accompanied by the statue of the resurrected Jesus.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The women, who were in a procession sad and mournful, were accompanied by the mourning Mary wearing a black veil. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n They arrived at the City Hall building in Plaza Rizal, where a small woman dressed as an angel played by Grade 10 pupil Jaira Fiona Estelle L. Dimag from Bgy.
