Marcos Jr. expressed on Monday his full confidence and support to newly- appointed Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, calling for close collaboration in addressing cybercrime, terrorism, and transnational crimes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPolice General Marbil, you have my full confidence and my full support, as you begin to champion a police that is pro-God, pro-country, pro-people, pro-environment. Let us work closely with you in addressing emerging threats such as cybercrime, terrorism, and transnational crimes,\u201d President Marcos said in welcoming Marbil, the 30th chief of the PNP.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe shall continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and give the finest service to our beloved citizens. Let us now ensure that the PNP will be agents of progressive transformation in the lives of our people by ensuring the safety and well-being of every community in the land,\u201d Marcos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Also during the change-of-command rites, the President extended his gratitude to the more than 230,000 men and women of the PNP who have been instrumental to the success of the organization and national development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Marbil, 55, vowed to live up to the President\u2019s expectations as he assumed the PNP leadership, thanking the chief executive for his leadership, loyalty, dedication and service.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAng pangarap ko, ay pangarap niyo rin. Matatag na ekonomiya, maayos na lipunan at maayos na kapulisan \u2013 \u2018yan po unang kataga na sinabi ng Presidente during the inauguration. Benjamin Acorda Jr. who ended his term as the PNP chief on March 31, prompting President Marcos to appoint an officer-in-charge.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>JOB WELL DONE FOR ACORDA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Likewise, the President congratulated Acorda for his efforts, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the Filipinos as the 29th PNP chief.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Marcos acknowledged Acorda\u2019s \u201cFive-Focused Agenda,\u201d which he said guided the PNP towards more honest law enforcement operations, enhanced information technology capabilities, and stronger community relations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe PNP\u2019s efforts in combatting various forms of crime have yielded tangible results, which exhibit the diligence of our officers and personnel, as well as the effectiveness of our programs,\u201d Marcos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The President cited an OCTA Research survey conducted last year, recognizing the PNP as the 3rd highest performing and most trusted among 25 government agencies in the second quarter of 2023, with a 76 percent trust rating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>For the chief executive, the survey only \u201cindicates the public\u2019s increasing trust and confidence in the police force.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWith all these, I believe, the best send-off gift that we can give Gen. Acorda is neither the usual memorabilia nor the typical testimonials. The best parting token that we can offer him is the pledge to exceed what he has done during his watch and to continue the good work that he has begun,\u201d Marcos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI am sure nothing will make Gen. Benjie Acorda happier than seeing the organization he loves so much able to outdo all the previous achievements of the PNP. So, for all these and more, I congratulate and salute Gen.
