{"id":5725,"date":"2024-05-11T07:46:24","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T23:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=5725"},"modified":"2024-05-11T07:57:45","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T23:57:45","slug":"dilg-urged-to-probe-bohol-resort-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2024\/05\/11\/dilg-urged-to-probe-bohol-resort-closure\/","title":{"rendered":"DILG urged to probe Bohol resort closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE management and employees of a popular beach resort in Panglao, Bohol urged the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to look into the alleged use of excessive force  in the recent closure of the establishment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Villa Tomasa-Alona Kew Hotel Resort in Panglao town was directed to cease operation on April 16, 2024 for allegedly operating without a business permit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>However, the management said they kept on applying for a business permit but were always denied.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:image {\"id\":5727,\"width\":\"840px\",\"height\":\"auto\",\"sizeSlug\":\"full\",\"linkDestination\":\"none\"} --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"311\" height=\"376\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/bohol-resort.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5727\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/bohol-resort.jpg 311w, https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/bohol-resort-248x300.jpg 248w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\"><\/figure>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe seek proper justice not only for the resort owners but also to save our employees for losing their jobs after one year since there\u2019s still four years left on the five-year lease agreement,\u201c the management explained.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the resort\u2019s legal team, they already sued the respondents last April 26 at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Bohol in the City of Tagbilaran or just a week after the incident that left almost 300 of employees and local and international tourists shocked.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cVictims of illegal acts at Villa Tomasa-Alona Kew Resort in Panglao Bohol have filed criminal and civil cases against those responsible for the dispossession,\u201d the resort\u2019s legal team said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThey will also file proper legal action against anyone buying the hotel resort as the said victims have a valid and existing option to buy the subject property, which is in the nature of a right of first refusal. If any would be buyer cooperated with the dispossession, they too will be made liable criminally,\u201d the legal team added.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The management of the Villa Tomasa-Alona Kew Hotel Resort has also expressed fear and utmost disappointment to the group from the local government unit for allegedly using extreme force to takeover the resort without any closure warning.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:image {\"id\":5728,\"width\":\"840px\",\"height\":\"auto\",\"sizeSlug\":\"full\",\"linkDestination\":\"none\"} --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"276\" height=\"183\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/bohol-resort1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5728\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cOur 300 employees have been left traumatized up to now and all tourists were shocked after the horrible incident.
