TYPHOON Carina has destroyed houses and displaced more than a hundred families in the coastal communities in Iloilo City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), as of 9:45 a.m. Monday, at least 15 houses were destroyed by strong winds and 16 others were partially damaged.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thirty-eight families or 138 individuals were displaced.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The CSWDO said the most affected families came from Bgy. Boulevard, where 90 individuals were evacuated at the Baluarte Elementary School.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Monday, the <\/strong>city government of Iloilo has enforced preemptive evacuation of communities residing in high risk and those with high exposure to the impact of \u201cCarina.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Based on Executive Order No.107 signed by Mayor Jerry Tre\u00f1as on Sunday night identified communities for the preemptive evacuation were barangays Boulevard, San Juan, and Calumpang in Molo district; Sto. Ni\u00f1o Norte, Sto. Ni\u00f1o Sur and Calaparan in Arevalo; and Ortiz, General Hughes, Maria Clara, and Rizal Ibarra in the city proper.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan also braced for \u201cCarina\u201d as the weather disturbance continues to bring light to moderate rains in this part of Luzon.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a flood advisory issued Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that people living in mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of rivers and tributaries of Bulu, Banban, Bacarra, Vintar, Laoag, and Quiaoit in Ilocos Norte, as well as in lower Abra, Silay-Sta. Maria, Buaya, and Amburayan, are likely to be affected by 12-hour moderate to heavy rains.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Due to heavy rains, a rockslide was reported along the Nueva Era-Pinili Road yesterday while the Pancian, Pagudpud road has been on and off to traffic due to road clearing operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile about<\/strong> P73.6 million worth of family food packs (FFPs) and non-food items have been prepositioned in different warehouses in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), ready for distribution once needed as Severe Tropical Storm \u201cCarina\u201d threatens north Luzon. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – CAR Director Maria Aplaten said 25,357 family food packs are in different warehouses.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kalinga has 2,958; Abra, 3,807; Apayao, 1,793; Mountain Province, 420; Ifugao, 456; and Benguet, including Baguio City, 11,821, and local government unit storage facilities, 4,102.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Aplaten said P52,568,117 worth of non-food items are also ready for distribution from the same storage facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n As of 11 a.m. Monday, PAGASA said the center of the eye of \u201cCarina\u201d was 340 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised in Batanes, the eastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gattaran, Baggao, Pe\u00f1ablanca, Lal-Lo, Gonzaga) including the eastern portion of Babuyan Islands (Camiguin Is., Babuyan Is.), and the northeastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Palanan, Maconacon) .<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" TYPHOON Carina has destroyed houses and displaced more than a hundred families in the coastal communities in Iloilo City.
