BY BIBOY DE LEON<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n THE Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday released the official list of 35 participating schools for the pilot implementation of the \u201cMatatag\u201d curriculum.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n ‘Matatag” curriculum or the revised K to 10 program<\/a> will pilot run on September 25.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Under the new program, the lessons from Kindergarten to Grade 10<\/a> will focus on five important skills — language, reading and literacy, mathematics, makabansa, and good manners and right conduct.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The DepEd said the new curriculum will be executed in stages starting in 2024 until 2028.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to DepEd, there are five schools each from the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions 1, 2, 7, 12, and Caraga that will participate in the program, making the total number to 35 schools across seven regions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe decongested the curriculum by 70 percent, which supports our focus on the essential skills of literacy and numeracy. [This will help reduce] overcrowding and [help focus] on the essential elements of learning,\u201d said DepEd\u2019s Bureau of Curriculum Development Director Jocelyn D.R.
