{"id":8894,"date":"2024-09-30T04:07:03","date_gmt":"2024-09-29T20:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/?p=8894"},"modified":"2024-09-30T04:07:04","modified_gmt":"2024-09-29T20:07:04","slug":"deped-doubles-teachers-allowable-vacation-service-credits-from-15-to-30-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.journaldailynewsonline.com.ph\/index.php\/2024\/09\/30\/deped-doubles-teachers-allowable-vacation-service-credits-from-15-to-30-days\/","title":{"rendered":"DEPED DOUBLES TEACHER\u2019S ALLOWABLE VACATION SERVICE CREDITS FROM 15 TO 30 DAYS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC school teachers will now benefit from doubled vacation service credits (VSCs), the Department of Education (DepEd) said Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>This came after&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo &#8220;Sonny&#8221; Angara signed DepEd Order No. 13 series of 2024 increasing VSCs from 15 to 30 days<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>These updated guidelines streamline the administration of VSCs, which allow teachers to offset absences due to illness or personal reasons, or to recover salary deductions during vacation periods.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The revised order now entitles incumbent teachers with at least one year of service, as well as newly- hired teachers appointed within four months after the start of classes, to 30 days of VSCs annually.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Additionally, newly-hired teachers whose appointments are issued four months after the start of classes will receive 45 days of VSCs per year.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>One notable improvement is the provision for calculating service credits beyond regular work hours. For every hour of eligible service rendered during school days, teachers will now earn<\/strong><strong><br>1.25 hours of VSC. If the service is rendered during Christmas or summer breaks, weekends, or holidays, this will be equivalent to 1.5 hours of VSC per hour.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Teachers assigned to perform ancillary tasks or additional teaching-related duties outside of their regular hours will also benefit from the new guidelines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>These tasks include attending training sessions on weekends or holidays, conducting remedial or enhancement classes, election-related duties, parent-teacher conferences, and home visits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>In cases where teaching overload is not compensated through overload pay, teachers will be credited with 1.25 hours of VSC for every hour of additional teaching, on top of their 30-day entitlement.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Approval of VSCs will require authorization from the Schools Division Superintendent or another designated authority.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The new guidelines reflect DepEd\u2019s commitment to addressing the evolving demands on teachers and ensuring they are properly compensated for additional work, particularly during periods like summer or long vacations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>The move also aims to safeguard teachers\u2019 net take-home pay by recognizing their participation in DepEd-led activities at the national, regional, and division levels, alongside its partners and stakeholders.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUBLIC school teachers will now benefit from doubled vacation service credits (VSCs), the Department of Education (DepEd) said Friday.
