THE Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday denied the appeal of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque<\/strong> for a protection writ.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Writ of Amparo was filed recently by Roque\u2019s daughter <\/strong>Bianca Hacintha.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a resolution issued on Tuesday, October 1, during the full court session, the SC <\/strong>did not stop the enforcement of the arrest order issued by the Quad Committee against Roque.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n A writ of amparo is a remedy available to any person whose right to life, liberty, and security has been violated or is threatened with violation by an unlawful act or omission of a public official, employee, or private individual.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to Roque\u2019s daughter, the quad panel committed grave abuse of discretion when it required her father to produce additional documents or attend any future hearing or meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n She said her father \u201chas the right against self-incrimination\u201d enshrined in the Constitution.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Roque was ordered arrested and detained by the Quad Comm after being cited for contempt a second time for failing to submit subpoenaed documents crucial to the joint panels\u2019 investigation, including his tax records and statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN). <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Instead of complying, Roque has gone into hiding and vowed not to surrender. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Quad Comm uncovered evidence that allegedly linked Roque to Lucky South 99, an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Porac, Pampanga.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" THE Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday denied the appeal of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque for a protection writ.
