SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives, on Tuesday filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for another term as representative of Leyte\u2019s 1st<\/sup> district, his sixth term as member of the chamber if elected once again.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He filed his COC before attorney Maria Goretti Canas, acting provincial election supervisor of the province of Leyte.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the filing of his COC at Tacloban City\u2019s Commission on Elections (Comelec) office, Speaker Romualdez, a lawyer from the University of the Philippines (UP), expressed sincere gratitude to the people of Leyte for their continued trust and support throughout his political career.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Ang patuloy na suporta ng ating mga kababayan ang inspirasyon ko upang ipagpatuloy ang ating nasimulan. Isa pong malaking karangalan ang magsilbi sa Leyte at sa buong bansa,” said Romualdez, alao president of the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Speaker was accompanied during his filing of COC by other top officials of the province, including Gov. Jericho Petilla, Vice Gov. Leonardo Javier, 2nd district Rep. Karen Javier, as well as the mayors from the 1st district, including Remedios Petilla of Palo, Lovell Ann Yu-Castro (Alang-alang), Eleonor Lugnasin (Babatngon), Norman Sabdao (San Miguel), Amparo Monteza (Santa Fe), Gina Merilo (Tanauan) and Erwin Ocana (Tolosa).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez was represented by councilor Raymund Romualdez, President of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Tacloban and Region VIII.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Local chief executives from the municipalities comprising the 2nd district of Leyte as well as three board members from various districts of the province were also present at the Comelec office when the Speaker filed his COC.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G.
