PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Qatari Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Ahmed Saad Nasser Abdullah Al-Homidi, agreed on Wednesday to further strengthen the vibrant bilateral ties between the Philippines and Qatar.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Qatari Ambassador paid a courtesy visit to President Marcos at the Malaca\u00f1an Palace on the same day.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In his message to the Qatari Ambassador, President Marcos recalled the significant visit of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in April this year, which signified the \u201cvery strong connection\u201d between their nations.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe made a very strong connection, and I think that will be always good for both our countries,\u201d President Marcos told the Qatari Ambassador, referring to the Amir\u2019s visit this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos met with the Qatari Amir on April 22 and discussed ways of strengthening political relations between the two countries and exchanged views on matters of mutual concern.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n For his part, the Qatari Ambassador expressed to President Marcos that they are \u201chappy to be in cooperation\u201d with the Philippines, and extended their gratitude for the government\u2019s warm welcome during the Qatari Amir\u2019s visit to the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe are more happy to be in cooperation. We work a lot of projects \u2014 and we try to be stronger on this relationship,\u201d the Qatari Ambassador told President Marcos, referring to the bilateral relationships between the two countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Qatar were established on May 5, 1981.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Qatar is second home to an estimated 242,609 Filipinos.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PRESIDENT Ferdinand R.
