SENIOR citizens in Cebu City are set to receive free maintenance medicines starting January 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cebu City Mayor <\/strong>Raymond Alvin Garcia made the announcement on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Garcia told elders who attended a barangay assembly in the coastal village of Tinago that there are available funds for the program that will benefit over 90,000 seniors.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “That’s why next year, I promise you that we have put in the budget that next year, January, we will start giving daily maintenance medicine,” the mayor said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cYou will not buy those medicines anymore,\u201d he vowed.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Garcia said the program came when many senior citizens asked about it when he visited various barangays.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He said the move aims to alleviate the daily need for maintenance medicines among elders in Cebu City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" SENIOR citizens in Cebu City are set to receive free maintenance medicines starting January 2025.
