A BARANGAY kagawad on Thursday was arrested for alleged extortion and bribery in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Angeles City police director Col. Amado Mendoza Jr. reported to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan that arrested was Lionel Bernardo, 39, a kagawad in Bgy. Lourdes Northwest, Angeles City.
Joint operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) Police Station 2 and the Angeles City Investigation and Detection Management Unit (ACIDMU) arrested Bernardo based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 116 of Angeles City, Pampanga for two counts of violation of the Anti-graft and Corrupt Practices (Republic Act 3019) or extortion, and bribery.
The court set a bail of P160,000 for each case for Bernardo’s temporary liberty.
The arrested kagawad is now under the custody of the Angeles City police.
