CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga –The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) and the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) continue to gain momentum after 17 former communist rebels surrendered to police units in Central Luzon, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 reported on Tuesday.
Fifteen of the surrenderers were former members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) who withdrew their support from the Alyansang Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon (AMGL) under Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP).
The successful operation, aided by the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), led to the surrender of LMB members alias “Iza,” “Bebe,” “Cindy,” “Auring,” “Fidel,” “Josie,” “Josa,” “Juday,” “Vane,” “Mayo,”” Len,” “Maring,” “Quel,” “Roma,” and “Yolly.”
Former AMGL-KMP member alias “Matwa” surrendered to The Pampanga 2nd PMFC in Bgy. San Pablo, Sta. Ana, Pampanga, yielding a rifle grenade.
Another former rebel , alias “Lei,” yielded to the Pampanga 1st PMFC in Bgy. Consuelo, Macabebe, Pampanga, turning over 40mm explosive ammunition.
PRO 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan commended the surrenderers.
“These voluntary surrenders demonstrate our collective efforts to end insurgency. We’ll continue supporting those seeking rehabilitation and reintegration. PRO3 remains committed to maintaining peace and security in our region,” he said.
Maranan urged other leftist group members to follow suit and avail of government;s rehabilitation programs.
