ANTI-CRIME CHECKPOINT NETS 2 RIDERS FOR SHABU IN OLONGAPO

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — A routine anti-crime checkpoint on Sunday led to the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of over P487,000 worth of suspected shabu in Olongapo City.

Olongapo City police director Col. Ritchie Claravall  reported to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr. that arrested were alias “Vin,” and alias “She,” both residents of Calapacuan, Subic, Zambales.

Personnel of the Olongapo City Police Station were manning a checkpoint on the national highway in  Bgy. Kalaklan when they flagged down the suspects on a motorcycle for not wearing helmets.

The suspects showed signs of resistance, prompting the police to conduct a protective frisk, which led to the discovery of  around 71.66 grams of shabu worth at least  P487,288 from the male rider. 

The duo were immediately arrested and will be charged with violations of  Republic Act 10054 (Motorcycle Helmet Act), Disobedience Upon an Agent of a Person in Authority, and Violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Penones commended the swift response and alertness of the operating personnel.

“This incident underscores how consistent law enforcement, even through routine checkpoints, can yield significant breakthroughs in our anti-drug campaign. Let this serve as a firm warning—there is no room for lawlessness in Central Luzon,” the Central Luzon top cop said.
