A POLICEMAN on Friday night shot a police chief and three others dead in Sibulan, Negros Oriental
The fatalities were identified as Capt. Jose Edrohil Cimafranca, the police chief of Sibulan Municipal Police Station; Senior Master Sgt. Tristan Chua; Patrolman Rey Albert Temblor; and civilian Sheila Mae Dinanao.
Suspect Police Staff Sgt. Bonifacio Saycon surrendered to fellow cops in Tanjay City an hour after the shooting. He also turned over his issued firearm.
Saycon was scheduled for paraffin testing and is now detained at the Tanjay Police Station.
Initial police investigation showed that Dinanao was first shot by Saycon at a bar in Bgy. Tubtobon in Sibulan.
Capt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police, said the three other police officers, who appeared to be with the suspect in the bar, responded and disarmed him, placed him under arrest and took him into custody.
But while on their way to the police station in a car, Saycon reportedly pulled out a second gun and allegedly shot all his police companions before fleeing.
An investigation is ongoing.
