DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday said fugitive former Ako Bikol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co has sent “feelers” expressing his intention for a dialogue with the Ombudsman..
In an ambush interview at Camp Crame, Quezon City, Remulla said Co sent feelers to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla through his contacts in the clergy.
“Syempre we take them seriously. ‘Yung gusto makipag-dialogue kakausapin namin ‘yan. Pero kung bribe, eh wag na,” the DILG chief said.
The former lawmaker and several former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials in Mimaropa are facing graft charges in connection to an anomalous flood control project worth P289 million in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
Co, who went abroad for medical reasons in 2025, has yet to return to the country. Latest report said he is in Portugal, having a Portuguese passport.
The National Bureau of Investigation has filed a plunder complaint against Co with the Department of Justice (DOJ) over his alleged involvement in flood control mess.
