PBBM PUSHES FOR FASTER, NON-POLITICAL DISTRIBUTION OF GOV’T AID

Thus declared President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he encouraged Filipinos to continue voicing their concerns and suggestions to the government, assuring the public that their sentiments—no matter how big or small—are being heard and will be acted upon by the administration.

In BBMVLOG 278 Sagot sa Polisiya, President Marcos assured the public that the government will streamline the distribution of assistance to beneficiaries, particularly senior citizens, stressing that national government aid programs should not be used for political promotion and should instead be delivered more efficiently, possibly through digital platforms.

“Noong nakaraang dalawang linggo ay nag-vlog tayo tungkol sa mga polisiya. Laking gulat namin na makita namin ang comment section dahil sa dami ng suggestion ninyo,” the President said, referring to his previous BBM Vlog 276: Polisiya, which garnered 70.2K heart reactions and 11.9K comments.

“Tama lang na ihayag ninyo ang inyong mga saloobin. At wala ring malaki o maliit na hinaing, lahat po ‘yan ay problema basta pabigat sa pamumuhay ng tao. At nandito naman kami para makinig at aksyunan ang mga bagay-bagay na ‘yan,” the President added, reading some of the comments.

President Marcos said assistance programs funded by the national government should not be used for political promotion, stressing that speeches and other activities unrelated to the distribution of aid should no longer be part of the process.

The President emphasized that government services must not be used for political gain or personal promotion by public officials.

The Chief Executive noted that existing policies already prohibit such practices, citing guidelines under a memorandum circular of the Department of the Interior and Local Government as well as provisions in the General Appropriations Act that govern the proper use of public funds, particularly in the distribution of assistance coming from the national government.

President Marcos also said the government is exploring ways to digitize the distribution of aid to make the process faster and more efficient, including the possible use of digital payment platforms such as GCash.

The President noted that some local government units, including Makati, have begun testing similar systems, which other LGUs may study and gradually implement to improve the delivery of government assistance.
