A 6-YEAR-OLD girl on Friday, June 19, was found dead in a farm area in Victoria, Tarlac.
The Victoria Municipal Police Station received a report on the same day regarding the child’s alleged disappearance.
Police immediately conducted verification and initiated search and follow-up operations to locate the missing child.
Officers later proceeded to a farm area where the child’s body was found.
Authorities have yet to disclose the circumstances surrounding her death as the investigation remains ongoing.
In a follow-up investigation, police took into custody a minor believed to be responsible for the incident.
In compliance with existing laws and procedures, the child in conflict with the law was turned over to the appropriate social welfare authorities for proper intervention and disposition.
Police withheld the identity of the minor in accordance with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, which protects children involved in criminal proceedings.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez expressed condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that the case would be handled with urgency and impartiality.
“This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family as they grieve. We assure them that PRO3 will pursue the investigation with diligence and sensitivity, guided by the evidence and in accordance with the law,” Mendez said.
The official added that investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and gather all available evidence to ensure that justice is served while observing due process.
The Central Luzon top cop said PRO3 remains committed to carrying out its mandate with professionalism, compassion and respect for the rights of all parties involved, in line with the directive of Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. and the organization’s thrust of providing “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
Authorities urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to allow investigators to complete their work as they seek to determine the full details behind the tragedy.
