THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s (CIDG) Oplan Paglalasag Omega drive led to the arrest of a man and the confiscation of assorted high-powered firearms, magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in La Paz, Tarlac.
CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod said the implementation of a search warrant resulted in the capture of alias “Bastian” of Bgy. Motrico in La Paz.
Operatives led by the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit headed by Lt. Col. Arvin Hosmillo, with support from the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF), the 304th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3, and the La Paz Municipal Police Station conducted the operation.
The search warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 111 in Tarlac City for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Confiscated from the suspect were a cal. 5.56 rifle, a cal..40 M1911 pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, 14 firearm magazines, 346 rounds of cal. .40, an ammunition case containing 48 live rounds, five shotgun shells, a sling bag, a bandolier, two long firearm bags, and a firearm holster.
The arrested suspect was brought to the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit office for documentation and filing of appropriate charges.
Gollod said the operation forms part of its continuing campaign under Oplan Paglalansag Omega, which aims to dismantle armed groups and remove loose and illegally possessed firearms from communities to help maintain peace and public safety.
