MORE than 1.1 million minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region (NCR) are expected to benefit from the P85 daily pay increase following the approval of a new wage order by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), Malacañang announced on Tuesday.
In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the initiative is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to increase the wages of ordinary Filipino workers.
According to Castro, the wage increase will be implemented in two phases.
The first phase, amounting to P60, will take effect on July 19, while the second phase, amounting to P25, will be implemented in January 2027.
