P755 NEW DAILY MINIMUM WAGE FOR METRO MANILA WORKERS

DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis N. Tolentino announced that around 1.1 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila will receive a P60 daily wage increase based on Wage Order No. NCR-28.

The wage hike officially took effect on Saturday (Sept. 26)

Under the wage order, the minimum wage for non-agricultural workers in the NCR increases from P695 to P755 per day, while the minimum wage for workers in agriculture, small retail and service establishments employing 15 workers or less, and small manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers increases from P658 to P718 per day.

 “Dito natin naipakita ang kabuluhan ng isang tripartite mechanism kung saan ang pamahalaan, ang employers’ groups, at ang employees’ groups ay nagkakaisa para isulong at iangat ang dangal ng manggagawang Pilipino at maipakita rin na sa pagkakaisang ito ay makapagsulong ng isang sustainable economy dito sa NCR,” Tolentino said.

He called on employers to strictly comply with the new minimum wage rates effective Sept. 26 and ensure that their payroll and compensation systems reflect the prescribed increases.

Tolentino said the DOLE will continue to monitor compliance with the wage order and provide guidance to workers and employers on its proper implementation.

He emphasized that the wage order follows the established tripartite wage-setting process undertaken by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR (RTWPB-NCR) and confirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).

The pay hike is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration’s continuing efforts to address workers’ wage concerns while balancing workers’ and employers’ needs through the country’s established system of tripartism and social dialogue
