HEALTH officials are closely monitoring the Russian plague outbreak and taking the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendations seriously.
“So rest assured, our fellow citizens… the DOH is focused on this, and whatever else needs to be done, they will do it,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Wednesday when asked about the contagion.
“So far, they are meeting the requirements to ease our fears regarding this plague happening in Russia,” she added.
President Marcos is now in Singapore for his scheduled attendance at various events.
According to the WHO, the risk of an epidemic in Russia is low after the sudden death of a laboratory technician at a research institute in Siberia.
Russian authorities imposed strict quarantine measures at the research center and in several neighboring medical facilities.
WHO said there was no sign of a wider outbreak.
