CAMP VICENTE LIM, Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna — A key suspect in the case of missing Batangas beauty queen Catherine Camilon on Tuesday voluntarily surrendered to the authorities at the Balayan Municipal Pollice Station.
Suspect Jeffrey Ariola Magpantay, 33, a resident of Bgy. San Roque, Rosario, Batangas, surrendered to the police at 11:59 a.m. yesterday.
Magpantay was accompanied by his live-in partner during his surrender.
He was believed to be the driver of the prime suspect, Maj. Allan De Castro, who is now facing both administrative and criminal charges.
Magpantay yielded in the wake of charges filed against him in connection to the crime of kidnapping and serious illegal detention of the missing beauty queen.
He expressed his willingness to cooperate in the ongoing investigation and submitted a waiver of detention, which was signed by his legal counsel.
Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas acknowledged the surrender of Magpantay and assured a fair and impartial investigation into the case.
“We appreciate the cooperation of all individuals involved in the legal proceedings. This act of Mr. Magpantay signals his commitment to face the charges levied against him in a lawful and transparent manner, Lucas said..
