A CARGO parcel containing packs of suspected imported marijuana on Monday was intercepted by the authorities at the Davao International Airport (DIA).
According to Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines – Security and Intelligence Service (CAAP-SIS), around 9:49 a.m. on Monday, a baggage that had not been claimed for a month was subjected to disposal after it was not released due to suspected dangerous goods.
The illegal items were discovered during an x-ray when it arrived at the DIA from Manila via Cebu Pacific flight 51 961 last December 8.
Upon opening the cargo during the disposal process, personnel of the airline were surprised by the content and immediately called the attention of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the DIA.
After verification, PDEA-DIA confirmed the presence of three pieces of suspected imported marijuana, three pieces of vape, and one electric heater inside the box.
The suspected illegal drugs were turned over to PDEA 11 for laboratory examination.
